Born and raised in Georgia, Michael Solomon is a versatile musician, who is making an indelible mark on the vibrant Atlanta music scene. With a rich background in both classical and jazz music, he is a versatile performer, accompanist and composer.
Michael Solomon holds a Music Composition degree and Jazz minor from the University of Georgia, where he honed his skills and deepened his appreciation for the complexities and beauties of music. His journey into the world of music began at the age of 6, when he first began classical piano lessons. He started composing his own music at age 11, mostly solo piano works. Throughout high school, Michael began delving into jazz improvisation. By the time he reached college, was fully committed to jazz piano.
Michael draws his main inspiration from the introspective and sophisticated touch of Bill Evans. Other inspirations include Erroll Garner and Vince Guaraldi.
Michael’s compositions range from solo piano pieces, to jazz charts, to lofi-hiphop. The thread connecting these genres is the rich harmonies that Michael employs. His jazz playing and lo-fi often go hand in hand since he can record his jazz playing and use that sample material for lo-fi.
Michael’s posting of primarily Bill Evans transcriptions gained some attention on YouTube, and Michael looks forward to posting more content on this platform.
